25kg pet food bagdesign to survive 4m height drop
A New Zealand pet food company encountered problems with their 25kg eight-side-seal bags breaking when dropped. They required bags that could withstand a 4-meter drop without breaking, a challenge unmet by other suppliers.

Through our collaborative research and development, we were commissioned by the New Zealand pet food company to mass production of the 25kg large-capacity pet food bags.
The Challenge
Typical eight-side-seal pet food bags are designed to survive a 1.5-meter drop on each of the six faces. In some cases, this requirement is reduced to a 1-meter drop. The requirement for a 4-meter drop with a 25kg bag posed a significant challenge due to the immense impact force.
The Outcome
Analysis:
We examined the material structure and physical properties of sample bags from competitors.
Material:
We suggested an optimized material structure to improve drop performance.
PE Formulation Design:
We enhanced the toughness of the PE film through formulation adjustments.
Bag Making Process Adjustment:
We modified the bag-making process to prevent "root cut" phenomena during impact.
